random thoughts

I often think of myself as strange. I observe the people coming into my life, and the people going. I practice being in the moment because the past is done, and the future is zombies, neither one defining me, nor who I am. I have been practicing the art of presence, Being present, opening up, not so much an open book, more open to the little things that remind me that I am here, loved, and loving. For instance my little rabbit friend, Hectar, who does not judge me, nor shoot projections my way, he is just Hectar, he feels safe and trusts me, day in, day out, a constant reminder that love has no bounds, it does not change, even if everything else does when time has it’s way.

My freedom is my art, my art is my heart and soul.

Art stops me dead in my tracks. (painting: the radiant dali on cardboard from art deliveries, full circle.

Now a hält minimotion featuring BC and stages of some watercolours I have been working on last couple weeks.

‘Bee to a Flower’

Painting is….my life, my heart, my spirit.

Life colours our hearts. I do what I can, sometimes it doesn’t seem like enough. Sometimes I take a walk to ease the anxiety that chases me down, looking up top the sky, it’s soft colour palette gentles the mind. I do what I can to make the memories fade, the ones that broke my spirit, hurt my heart and left me in shame. Slowly it fades, the river flows by, a bird effortlessly glides and a friend chases a friend on a Lime down the lane.

winter solstice

Happy Winter Solstice, here is to the Sun and longer days, looking forward to the sun baths in the studio as I journey onwards with my current body of work. It was an interesting year, as it winds down I reflect on a great year of art and travel, time spent with family, and new friends made. Gone is the old as I empty the backpack and lighten the load, and prepare myself for what the new year has in store. This year I learned to not fight destiny and to persevere in grace, and to ride the waves and be ready for a few sets on the head, yew!

there is a place I like to go

I could settle for trends, or copy other styles….I have thus far chosen not to go down that path, for better or worse, it is something I have managed to bypass. This can make it difficult when it comes to my work being accepted in the now, it takes time to develop a style, it takes patience and perseverance to overcome doubt and the fear. It is imperative to not give in to these factors, and have faith that somehow it will work out. It is also a good idea to get out of the studio from time to time and recharge the soul, the mind, and the heart space.

fotoMahaloness and a minimoiotn 🎥

‘towards silence’ 👂 a new minimotion with soundscape ‘cat dreams’ from busy city to a mountain peace, I find myself on a road less travelled, where clouds drift gracefully, putting mind at ease, I hope you like it, and well ✌️

‘therianthropic’ WIP painting seen here in hybrid art format

‘therianthropica’ WIP in the studio, where walls melt away and recollections stream in

There is something to be said for slowing things down and letting things happen, everything happening just as it is supposed to without interfering the natural cycle, and allowing the artist within to be

still frame from minimotion me going at it in the studio

These are some panoramas of a place I go to in B.C. to disconnect from city life and remind myself that there is a whole other world going on, this place, this planet, provides us with so much and yet there are some who want to continue to do harm in the name of economy, and growth, with little to no plan for the consequences which you and I will pay for. So I am grateful for these moments, when it’s just me and the eagles, the clouds, the water, sky, and the trees, and all of the sounds, the wind as it dances though the trees, the sounds of ravens free falling, oh what a gift, so I come here and pay my respects, because there’s no guarantees it will last.

flower power

Somedays you just need to stop and smell the flowers, and this is exactly what hälts did.

fotoMahaloness

Here are some fotos from hälts moms secret magic garden, it takes a lot of work, care and attention to maintain a garden, this has been a great lesson for hälts and inspires him to put that kind of carr and attention into his art practice.

seasons change

In this part of the world the seasons change. As winter loosens its grip, the snow melts and the landscape turns from white to brown. You can almost hear the trees getting excited as they awake from their dormancy, and birds also seem to be quite  psyched.

fotoMahaloness

all fotos from recent sojourns to BC where hälts spends a lot of quality time enriching his senses and being one with the planet and all its wonder, there will future posts coming in an effort to share some of the journey with you all.

illusion part one

‘the illusion of fame’ 🐪 hälts late night minimotion with soundscape ‘something missing’ this is a little bit of a contemplative piece which features lady Pacifica, hand drawn hälts original animation (Shamans journey), candle light, quick clip from Esprrsso Kino, a room, a man, and the sky🐛
In this part of the world we live in excess, everyday taking for granted this precious planet we have the privilege to live on, when I see images of whales with stomachs full of garbage, plastic mainly, shark nets and their inherit indiscriminate ability to kill harmless beautiful creatures like all in the name of protecting human life, well I do not abide. Nuclear sites that every day are leaking radiation into the soil, the water, the air, it makes my blood boil. The thing is we are so distracted by the news and our minds that we lose sight of the fact every single one of us is contributing in one way or another, so I guess that begs the question, how do you want to contribute? I have lived a fairly good life, I have had my peaks, my valleys, and have spent time in the shadows in an attempt to understand my self in an effort to find how I can contribute with the time I have left in this life. I want to understand how I can act in this society, without perpetuating the hate, the anger, and the frustration, breaching the veil, or simply just believing the illusion that life is good, let’s face it, life is many things, the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the ugly. Yes there is magic, there is also honest folks out there trying to make the most of it, despite the reports that we are doomed, and that humanity has lost sight of its own humanity. I can fully admit that I have had my own stuggles and botched attempts, I have been blacklisted, I have denied, I have been rejected many times. The only thing that keeps me going is that little bit of optimism, that I have the power within to make a difference in this world, despite either thinking or being told that is not possible. Life is not black and white, there is an array, full spectrum portals of opportunity, and discovery. The human imagination, our dreams, our wishes, our feelings, our goals, are all valid, the more we expose these, talk about them, the closer we get to understanding each other, by turinign our backs, and forgetting, we only let things acrue and gain strength, which in the long run will make our lives more difficult, so from my standpoint being an outlier on that curve is critical, and necessary, as difficult as it may be.

and a few projects I have on the go right now, mostly watercolor…and a couple finished works from the past, interesting to look back occasionally and see where you came from, not too much, just a little bit.

hälts has made it his business to explore where art comes from, here at a sacred spot to the Blackfoot Nation is a clue left by an unknown artist

new watercolour WIP and the artist mindset when in process, diving deep into the ocean of creativity brah
