A Surfer’s Journal

When Lady Pacifica calls I go, and when I return I am compelled to channel my experience into a painting, or some kind of creative exploration. Each cycle, each journey is a time to recharge, to reconnect with the rhythm of Planet Earth, far away from the congested cities and competitive frequencies. The ocean is so immense, so powerful, so lively, and unpredictable. When you get lost in thoughts the ocean will remind you that you are not alone. It penetrates your being, thouroughly saturating it to it’s core, a true mystic she whispers in your ear that you are a part of her and to not be afraid. The water bubbles, invigorating your molecules as you swish and drift to her ebbs and flows. Thank you Ocean, Lady Pacifica, Earth Mother and all.

In the works…

Ho’okipa, one of my favorite places on Earth gifted me this ’speechless moment’, I simply dissolved into the landscape.

barra (a Southern journey cont.)

a poem titled ‘nobody speaks for the self’ (language warning for those sensitive spirits)

I am not the art on a magic bus
I am not the son who under performed
I am not the anger that past enraptures me with
I am not the suffering of a penance I’ve been carrying for years
I am not the human who rapes and pillages this Earth
I am not the asshole who you think I am
I am human
born to make mistakes
and to create
I am the black sheep fleeing the herd
here to be present in this mystical land
to surf the waves the ocean presents
to find my spirit
and to liberate the lies
I am here to experience a simple life
the one I have dreamed of
for most of my life

I am
nobody
in particular
in this place.

what it is

Art exploration involves getting past the blocks of the mind and surrendering to the act. The time it takes to learn will exponentially increase the more one desires to master the art.

simple life (a Southern journey cont.)

Yes, waves are on my mind pretty much all the time, each new wave I ride a chance for my soul to reconnect with Mother Earth’s energy.

surf culture

Even though I live on a dried up sea bed on the edge of a mountain range I am a water person. I love surfing, windsurfing, kiting, and anything that involves water, waves, or wind. When I am not able to be on the water I tend to paint things that bring me back to that feeling.

Recently photographer Morgan Maassen website link gave me permission to jam out with one of his fotos of Kelly Slater, so I went to town and made a couple watercolour acrylic hybrids and also added it to my old surfboard which my pals and I used to train on lakes with behind a jetski, you got to do what you got to do sometimes. Thank you Morgan, very Mahaloness.
