Been on the road a lot lately, camping, forest foraging, hiking, climbing apple trees, bear tracking, observing Eagles while being observed right back, and absorbing the summer vibes. The road has been good to hälts, opening the mind to new possibilities and if there’s one thing this artist has come to realize is spending time in the mountains, in Nature, does wonders for the body, mind, and spirit. It is also this artists intention to get back to some writing, sharing art, sharing minimotions, story telling and life experience with you here on Mahaloness, so please stay tuned.

Mezcal shuffle

Sitting
Looking out the window
Ideas forming in mind
like sun kissed fluffy white clouds
floating in cobalt blue sky
dogs barking
smoke lingering
piercing light
squinted eyes
as Spirits walk amongst the living
presence
she kisses my lips
as sweet dew dangles on a green leaf
that ants eat
buzzards glide effortlessly above
highways of promise
passing those time forgot
Mezcal shuffle
a man beaten down
by the sun and his own penance
the car screeches to a halt
¡Tope!

head spin (continuation of a Southern journey..)

side note: sometimes you come across an album that speaks to the soul…

“I held onto a penance I didn’t deserve.”
-Half Moon Run ‘Unofferable’ from the album ‘Dark Eyes’

meanwhile a Southern journey continues…

I arrive in Puerto Escondido and immediately give thanks to Lady Guadalupe. A few artist musician gypsy folk, who were also in the van from Rio Grande, are kind enough to help me out with my bearings. I grab my bags from the back, say ‘gracias’ to the driver and walk into a town that is absolutely alive. The first thing that hits you here is the all pervading smell. I make my way up a busy street lined with businesses and street vendors. I find my way to an internet cafe and following a few minor technical difficulties make contact with friends who I will be staying with. It has been two days completely free of communication, no wifi, no phones, liberating on many levels. I make a call and am given instructions to head to Playa Zicatela, the Mexican Pipeline, and find a place called Los Tios. I leave the internet place, walk to the side of a busy street and flag down a ride. I find myself in a taxi, my head spinning from the whirlwind of a journey, while simultaneously taking in the new surroundings. I can’t help but feel I am having a Bill Murray moment as the taxi flies through town. In the back of my mind I wonder what life would be without these moments. Somehow in the midst of the chaos I am able to find peace, I have travelled here to find new rhythm, to submerge into Lady Pacifica and let go of some things that have been on my mind for far too long.

tara no. 5

This is the fifth and final part of a series called ‘Painting a Tara’. It is a mixture of timelapse, animation with an original sound overlay. I composed the score using my own recorded samples and brought it together with Garageband. I hope you enjoy it.

road

sometimes you have to go down that road

fotoMahaloness
moments of creative bliss while on the road…

20140530-001943.jpg
one night moments before going down that road…
20140530-001954.jpg…the after result of going down that road. Location is a large feild, next to the ocean. The building so I am told is an old WW 2 lookout hut which is painted regularly by locals and international artists. It was pitch black that night, new moon, couldn’t see a thing. I do remember very were strange sounds all around me, thankfully the spirit of creativity was looking out for me. Mahaloness.

20140530-002327.jpgI put this one up on an ohana, sometimes I do repeat myself in my art when the message is worth it. Somewhere just off Akoni St. Paia. Mahaloness to Jim.

20140530-003552.jpgthe playful side of my art although I would consider this mural a protective mural keeping away unwanted spirits and negative energy. It is meant to be painted over and hidden in the wall, which it was, art like life is impermanent.

20140530-003941.jpg
all murals were completed in a day or in the case of the black wall mural, 2 hours at night, blind folded. These are what I would consider fast murals, working with minimal paint, stencils, and free hand technique.

this instalment of Mahaloness is dedicated to those who walk the path.

A road leads to a rainbow

A road leads to a rainbow. And! Sighted, a Mahaloness painting takes a rest leaning against a hydrant. This just in, word on the street is Mahaloness sneakers are a hit! There’s more love to come to all you lovelies, and if you are need of some Mahaloness let me know I’ll see what I can do. Keep up the good work, even when it isn’t so easy, keep doing it well.
Photomahaloness the art never stops because the love never stops.
