when I’m there

I walk this earth alone, yet I am not alone, there is 7.4 billion and rising humans here with me. I have often felt a connection to the wolf, in fact there was a time I visited an old shaman who pointed out that my spirit animal is a wolf, a lone wolf. When he told me this my whole life flashed before my eyes, and everything made sense to me. I am hälts, a painter who spends most of his time alone, making paintings that recollect things that I have experienced in my travels, mostly alone. Even when I was with someone I felt alone. This has been my curse and blessing, because on one hand I am human and as a human affection to another is something desirable, on the other hand the world is so complex that the notion that one will fall in love with one person and will live happily ever after seems but a dream. For now I will continue making marks, building character, and painting. I am hälts, I am nobody, unknown, alone, right next to you.

soul medicine

life offers joy

life brings pain

life brings surprises

and sometimes disdain

no matter what may come

there will be hälts

making art.

fotoMahaloness

A bit of a painful moment in hälts life journey, these moments build character and are essential to feel, whether you be man, woman, or child, give yourself the freedom to let go and feel whatever it is you feel, than write it down, express it through art, or cooking, or dancing, or singing, maybe a little less drinking, whatever it is you do, channel it, this is good medicine.

No matter how alone you may feel, there will always come a visitor to remind you that this may not be true. (Praying Mantis friend visitation during a maui mana painting sesshin)

When the crow speaks you listen, spending time with Nature, observing Nature is good medicine.

Art is a facilatator of joy.

Puerto Escondido street art that brings an ear to ear smile to this artists face.

bear animal medicine

Throughout my short life I have experienced many animal encounters, most recently a black bear, k’a, or Ursus americanus, who reminds me to ready myself for the winter season ahead.

Bear visitation experiences tend to inform my artwork, I will happily share the messages these beautiful beings bring me.

thought meanderings

thought meanderings 1-4

no. 1

Woven tapestry

infinite

as far as eyes can see

beautiful upon first glance

look closely

there are holes.

Historical reminders of the human companion named, sorrow.

<;;ancient soul howls to lady moon

a fire crackles

illuminating dark times.

as young sorrow breeds passion

action

and when aligned with heart

does compassion be fully realized.

no. 2
Memories drift in my mind, time after time, resonating misery that besieged me for so long. Ho’oponopono.

no. 3
Raised by wolves the animal instinct comes alive when the night sky is filled with moonlight. My animal companion with me, a guide perhaps, non existent to the other, until you cross that line.

no. 4

Lost in haze, without uniform, searching sky, rainbows like oil slicks fill my eyes, what were once mountains carved down by man’s hand, a valley in the making, smoke stacks make for great picture making, while at night bright lights flashing high in the sky, no plane sound, what is it? Have I finally lost my mind.

no. 4
Awoke from a very long sleep and realized there, in my arms, lay a goddess next to me. How long had she been there I wondered? Was she with me all this time?

fotoMahaloness -a protective deity mural I installed in an ohana in Paia, Maui. Similar to a tv cable guy except this feeds your soul and replenishes your heart center, the Mahaloness way.
And in closing, medicine for the heart.20130810-003413.jpg

Art as medicine

Welcome to my little paintaverse.
Explorations in the creative imaginarium, cosmic by nature.

Creativity is a world that we really do not know much about. At the root we love it, at the core it takes roots and can be medicine for the soul, the body, the mind, and the heart. It’s history stretches way back, over 30 000 years back, we think, and it is perhaps the best kept secret going. Thanks to incessant research by human think tanks new discoveries are made daily, yet we are in many ways humbled by the vastness of it all. http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/11264
Fotomahaloness -Marks I have made, my art, on walls, canvas, feet, published in magazines, it makes no difference to me, it is what I do, also featuring a really nice tree in my neighbourhood.
If you like what you see and would like to support my work you can see and order prints of it here.
