eyes open

Does art create the landscape, or does the landscape create the art? I woke up to this thought after a dream that was more real than real. Maybe it was the day before and seeing a loved one go into a completely vulnerable and helpless state. Maybe it is the confusion of the world, and the deterioration of humanity looming overhead as a giant mass of grey and gloom. However I remain aware that the behind the grey, the sky is blue, and the sun is shining. Life moves in ripples, waves travelling from far off places, some predictable, while others catching me by surprise. I know that I can’t always get the words right, to describe what’s happening, to make sense of a landscape that vanishes under a thick veil of fog. A kingfisher creates loud short shrieking sounds that wake me up to the moment, no mind, nothing; halfway. The fog lifts and the landscape appears, the same as what I remember, but different from the last moment it was visible. Resembling a loved one, the same person I have known my whole life, yet different from the day before, and the the day before that. Seasons change. People change, same spirit, life goes on. I look far into distance, the more I see the more I don’t see. I imagine all the people who are seeing what I am seeing, feeling what I am feeling. Do they see the same clouds, and the crack of light that breaks the horizon? I say to myself, the sun will shine again, the creation of the landscape of what’s to come. Mother Earth shows me the way, the fog dissipates, the child within smiles bright, the shadows in my head disappear, half way.

Thank for reading, it has been a bit since getting the chance to sit and write. Perhaps this is a new chapter, new ideas, new thoughts, and opening up of the vault kept private and protected. I may not have all the right words, they’ll come, slowly, and patiently.

And now a minicine (mini cinema, which is longer versions of my minimotions, which are one minute in length) It is titled ‘water bombers’ with soundscape ‘hälts first day on the accordian’. I am happy to say I will be increasing my production value, which includes sound, creating title sequences and so on, this gets my fire going, winter will not bee boring. Ands now, water bombers…

There was a man who was a restless spirit. A Nomad travelling in sync with the landscape’s song.

the sun and the city dream

It’s a lonely journey towards the sun

with all my love I carry on

farther I travel into this desert of space

this anger, the sorrow

I put aside

burdens lift

drifting effortlessly

the mind settles

a still pond

fotoMahaloness

I often walk alone on this journey, spending hours alone, working away in my tiny studio, immersed in my craft, my art, steadfast in flow. Here I paint my pictures, no other soul in sight, and quite often late into the night.

This is a painting I am currently working on lit from behind. There is a portrait underneath that was something I lost enthusiasm for, and for various the other reasons that shall remain a mystery. It’s interesting backlit, ghostly you could say.

I have been a tourist in my own city, roaming around documenting the growth, the movement, and the flux. I find the city to be a lonesome place, all these structures, many only partly occupied, people in transit moving from one tower to th next,  this is an ongoing series I call, citylife.

hälts minimotion

‘the city I call home (urban tourist)’ 🎥 new hälts minimotion with soundscape ‘the discovery of something new’ featuring a bunch of footage gathered along a walk in the city I call home, and a few bits of a studio sesh working on a relatively new painting you could say. ❤️ much respect to all who make this journey bright ❤️

Inside the studio

A space always in flux, where happiness, sorrow, and all that falls in between, flows into an ocean of creativity, no other place I’d rather be.

BC magica

Following a busy couple of months hälts the artist behind the art and fotos you see here on Mahaloness decided it was best to head west and spend time in his second home, where the elders live, Windermere BC, East Kootenay. I see the valley as a continuously morphing painting, each time I look, something new added to the composition, ceaseless magica, and a place where the mind eases.

seigan (vow)

…that we treat things with care, devote ourselves to our work, love those we encounter, and take concern for society, never for greed or fame. -Kosho Uchiyama Reshi

As we move into a new cycle it seems fitting to renew a vow with this world I inhabit. The challenges faced up to this moment have provided me with wisdom which I will draw from as I continue along this journey. As I return to my artistic path, I acknowledge the many wonderful people out there in the world who have supported me in a variety of ways, along the way. I pay my respects to those individuals and communities who presently do the good work, as well as giving gratitude to those who have done the work before me, here and elsewhere.

I pledge to pay it forward.

buena energia

Everything I see, touch, smell, taste, hear and feel is energy for energy percolates, pervades, penetrates, permeates in everything, every being, everywhere and elsewhere.

Following a rendezvous with some friends I find myself sipping a coffee in a cafe cinema chocolate shop. There is a wall mural, it is my first real introduction to the art of this region, it hits my sensibilities with a right left combo, as the ghosts of genius past observe my every move, it is good energy. I walk into a small screening room, the smell of stale popcorn fills my nose and I take a seat looking at what appears to be an empty screen soon filled with a telepathic picture of whats to come.

no time zone

I have done my share of drifting in this lifetime, going to places that I have never been before, experiencing the unknown, observing and participating in rituals that strengthen character and connection to this place called home.

Through

Through my hands does Mahaloness flow. Through my vessel does light transmit the message. Through my eyes do I see the world around me. Through my heart do I feel and nurture love for thee. Through my ears do I listen intently. Through my nose do I smell Earth’s bounty. Through my mouth do I say thank you.

Fotomahaloness – consists of paintings, fotos, digipaintings, whatever I can get my hands on to keep in flow, and sometimes my hands end up in my work. It is with these hands that I am able to do what I love. The dj shot is my friend Savant’s Guard, aka Justin, thank you for the sounds.
