Landscape

Gratitude, love and respect flow through my brush, onto a piece of paper, so the story goes for this painter man. Softening the effects of life’s edge, and silencing the battle between good and evil. I try to be strong, sometimes it feels like a losing cause, this the doing of the doubting mind playing tricks on me. Truth be told, in the depth of my being, lives the real truth, the only truth, and that is, it is just as it is supposed to be, I am fine, golden, and genuine.  For many years I thought sadness has followed me, and for the longest time I could not find, the reason, the root, the cause, only false leads and unintentional misdeeds, testing the unconditional love of family and loved ones. Some left, they tried their best, my love no less, and so it goes for this painter man. What lies ahead, I cannot express, for this I do not know. Just know that the light will shine, and I will continue on, in grace, with dignity, and in honour of the ones who gave their lives to the greater meaning.

‘the simple things’

A hälts minimoiton with soundscape ‘right hand left hand’ featuring nothing other than life itself. The watercolour landscape painting titled  ‘A painting for wounded Earth’ is of a special place in my heart along the banks of the mighty Columbia River, Windermere BC, Canada. I am currently on a watercolour and landscape trend, when Nature speaks I have learned to listen, if you know what I mean. It must be said that the subject matter may change however the heart and soul that goes into my work is unchanging, timeless, unbound, and universal.

fall

Q: Do I wish I could reverse time?

A: No.

Time is what happens to us, life changes, our friends change, our family changes, our planet changes, everything we know changes. This is what life is, a process of change, a movement, a dance, a song, a painting, a leaf that turns orange, a slow river that meanders into the distance, a candle that blows out on a birthday cake.

and now a quote that I came across recently….

Because we don’t know when we will die

We get to think of life as an independent inexhaustible world

Yet, everything only happens a certain amount of times

And a very small amount really

How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon in your childhood

Some afternoon that’s so deeply a part of your being

that you cannot even conceive of your life without it

How many more times will you watch the full moon rise?

Perhaps 20

Yet it all seems limitless.

peace of mind

Goodbye 2016, it was memorable year, filled with joy and sorrow, and everything in between, many lessons, many rides, many coffees, and many marks were made. I was thinking of filling this post with art I have made in the last year, and than I decided to make this video, perhaps I will do a future post, a year in review, for now I leave you with this minimotion which features hälts skating on a frozen lake juxtaposed with a lake in BC during the cusp of summer and fall, closing it out with a squirrel encounter on a camping trip. Just easy watching, easy listening, with soundtrack ‘beat the devil out of it’, thank you for checking out Mahaloness, there is going to be some changes happening in the new year, the new cycle. Until the next May peace and harmony find us all.

drala in BC

Although the sun is always in the sky, what is it that causes you to look up and see that it is there? Although magic is always available, what allows you to discover it? The basic definition of drala is “energy beyond aggression.” The only way to contact that energy is to experience a gentle state of being in yourself. -‘Shambhala. The Sacred Path of the Warrior’ by Chögyam Trungpa

For the past little while hälts has been soaking up some BC magica, taking in as much as is humanly possbile while giving back to his elders, building a safe and sturdy path so they may move easily and confortably. The artistic flow enters new territory, gaining a new appreciation of the work of stone masons. Similar to painting, the act of mark making takes on 3-D form, brick to brick, stone to stone,  one step closer to final composition. There is a sense of fulfillment and happiness in this work, it will be interesting to see how this influences hälts artistic practice as he continues along the artists path.

The artist path, literally.

The inspector checking the pathway workmanship on a hot and sunny day.

Working in the yard making a path and one cannot but help be entralled by the sacred geometry.

Breaks by the lake put life to persecptive as BC soaks into my soul, or isnit th either way around, gratitude all around.

As the moon crosses sky so too does deer cross the Earth, as above so below.

The ‘wolfman’ painting by hälts including feathers, birch bark and acrylic paint. This painting portrays the effects of spending quality time in BC.

‘dancer on the lake’ a hybrid art by hälts, the first version of this series was projected in Louvre in Paris last summer, this a reminder that a small gesture can really go a long long way.

flower child at heart.

‘flower of another dimension’

BC magica

Following a busy couple of months hälts the artist behind the art and fotos you see here on Mahaloness decided it was best to head west and spend time in his second home, where the elders live, Windermere BC, East Kootenay. I see the valley as a continuously morphing painting, each time I look, something new added to the composition, ceaseless magica, and a place where the mind eases.

Stillness

I am forever grateful for these moments, they seep deep into my soul and both, humble and inspire me. Being with Nature I have no choice but to be in a state of awareness, as the hustle of modern life loosens its grip.
