the wounded healer

I was listening to a podcast called ‘the wounded healer’ on headphone commute and decided to make a watercolour painting which you shall see below. It’s been a little crazy lately between working in film sets, finishing projects and continuously work on paintings that are stacking up like Waimea Bay on a good swell. As leaves fall and winter approaches it looks like I’ll have plenty to work to keep me warm and busy, and will begin planning a trip that will be dedicated to making travel art, surfing and reclaiming my spirit.

‘starting new’ 🖌 a new minimotion with soundscape ‘super duper job’ featuring a bike ride, a very simple paper stop animation, a couple fresh watercolour sesshins in its very early stages, a beach on the Olympic peninsula in Washington St. that I camped on during the summer, and closing with the soothing sounds of lady Pacifica

‘fire in the sky’ a new watercolour WIP following some time spent in BC Canada this summer and fall

‘the wounded healer’ a watercolour painting I just finished up, it’s hard to open your heart up in this world of drama, the work must continue and I plan to continue the good work because the world is in need of it.

‘crossroads’ my hybrid art, reimagining my painting through digital media

‘animal’ a hybrid piece which uses my painting WIP ‘SLO’ reimagined digitally.

As crazy, confusing and weird as life may be, it is also something wonderful and I wouldn’t change one bit of it, even if that was an option, this includes ‘mistakes’ because these are golden opportunities to learn about ourselves, they are there to teach us in order to grow, and to build upon, there’s no point in being hard on yourself because it is self defeating, get up, get going, there’s more work to be done.

restless spirit

It has been a bit since I sat down a wrote some words so here goes….
I have been thinking about you

Not a moment goes by when I don’t miss you

Walking along a busy road

Cars passing

Anonymous

human contact is what I long

Your contact

Sleepless nights
Restless spirit

Searching for peace and resolution

Practicing loving kindness

catching thoughts before they produce actions

that cannot be reversed

What happen to the spark

Where did it go

Did I really lose sight

Of what makes life worth living

The happiness

The hope

Digging

 I am looking for courage

Anything to let these thoughts go

As past pulls me back

I walk forward

I must find a way to go on.

‘deep in contemplation’

‘Purple Rain’ Prince tribute painting by hälts

hälts recently took part in an artshow with the talented Kim Parrent (monochromatic oil painting marvelousness) and Ian Groll Polaroid magica

some wonderful reminders of a rather rich cinematic Past by Kim Parrent on Instagram as alligetisstatic

while out walking I ran into this useful youthful reminder, ‘let the imagination run wild. ‘

forest

Sometimes I go to the forest and just stand and listen to the trees. I can’t help but think and feel that something is watching me in return. Could it be an ‘over active imagination’ like I have been told countless times, or is it something watching me, a spirit, a force, an entity that is as much cognisant of me as I am of it, observing me as I observe it, and than I close my eyes and just breathe in the fresh air deeply, planting my feet in the soil and letting the forest take over my consciousness, my being, slowly dissolving the barrier that is up around me, letting the doubt go, letting Earth comsume me, becoming a part of the ecology, woven into the tapestry and than I open my eyes and I am back to myself standing in the forest.

And from the hältsART archive a painting called ‘Eastywesty’ & how to find Zen in the city, also subtle references to Hunter S. Thompson whose words made a lasting  impression on my psyche and his right hand man Ralph Steadman, whose drawings/paintings fired me right up. This painting is a available on as a simple single sided tshirt for anyone who might be interrsted in that kind of thing, please follow this  LINK! Click here and Mahaloness be with you.

mind travel

This is a friendly reminder to be resourceful and let the imagination run wild.

…and now…

🍍’mind travel’🍍

Brand new miniMOTION picture show featuring the art & sounds of hälts

✒️🎥🎼🌀Mahaloness and halts teamed up to produce this experimental super short called ‘mind travel’ it is the second in an ongoing project where halts combines his 2D art with modern technology and sound, analog to digital, or something along those lines. The images were first drawn in a tiny book and than photographed for stop animation with some post editing. The music is a collection of sounds formed into a soundtrack, these sounds are from the halts archives and produced using Garageband. This is a resourceful imaginative operation at this stage in the game, I am working on new material, more to come, enjoy!

Utiliser votre imagination

Excerpt from Quantum Psychology: How Brain Software Programs You and Your World. Robert Anton Wilson 1990.

On learning, which according to Wilson requires ‘motivation’.

‘ This variability of humans can function as the greatest evolutionary strength of the human race, since it may allow us to learn from persons imprinted and/or trained to see and hear and smell and think those things we have learned not to see or hear or smell or think.
Due to our habit of premature certainty, however, this variability seldom serves that beneficial evolutionary function. More often, when meeting somebody with different gloss or umwelt, we merely label that person “mad” or “bad” — crazy or evil — or both. This may explain most of the hostility on this planet, and most of the wars. ‘

One of many things I love about painting is the ‘learning’ component is ongoing. There is always the chance of a new discovery, a new feeling, a new mark, a new colour, a unique vibration. The imagination opens doors to new possibilities in this milieu of a world we all live in together, this tiny little bubble of magic with so much yet to discover.

fotoMahaloness – Creative explorations led by a curiosity into the unknown. Life is a mystery, full of surprises, full of possibility, depending on the lens one chooses see it through.
