sun kissed moon

Cardboard is all the new rage, Great Depression art, wartime art, poor starving artist art, bohemian yes, how about resourceful, taking something that was dump bound and making it new and useful again, if someone throws this out than perhaps I am dead wrong, I doubt that very much. So why? Why paint on cardboard? Why not. Next question…. Okay yes I am one person asking myself questions, if you can’t question yourself what are you doing. The world my friends in many levels is a mess, like the first part of Spring in a Northern city, brown, messy, ugly, and somewhat depressing. So this is why my friends hälts sometime paints  on cardboard. It is also a great way to scale up, practice for the murals and discover new ways to make marks, and have fun, no pressure brah. The fact is though we truly are a wasteful society, we throw away a LOT of sh📍✝,  it’s kind of sad, and perhaps what’s sad is this is the legacy we are going leave to the next generations. So why did hälts paint on cardboard, because he cares about the planet and wants to leave a different legacy, and thankfully there’s a lot of folks out there doing the same thing. (Animated minimotion coming soon🌊💨)

Stages of ‘sun kissed moon’ which hälts titled it as such because he looked out his studio window and the sun was kissing the moon.

restless spirit

It has been a bit since I sat down a wrote some words so here goes….
I have been thinking about you

Not a moment goes by when I don’t miss you

Walking along a busy road

Cars passing

Anonymous

human contact is what I long

Your contact

Sleepless nights
Restless spirit

Searching for peace and resolution

Practicing loving kindness

catching thoughts before they produce actions

that cannot be reversed

What happen to the spark

Where did it go

Did I really lose sight

Of what makes life worth living

The happiness

The hope

Digging

 I am looking for courage

Anything to let these thoughts go

As past pulls me back

I walk forward

I must find a way to go on.

Moments of time in creative space

The life of an artist is not easily explained in a blog. Maybe a book comes close. A movie?…..mmmm unlikely. Maybe an artist journal, now we are getting somewhere but even then I find it difficult to document every magical moment that comes by, or every breakthrough made while in creative exploration. As I work away at my mural, mark after mark I see it come together, which is a very good feeling. Things to keep in mind are when the scale increases the workload increases, and when working outside one becomes very acute to the weather…

Portraits 2007 thru 2013

Portraits indeed, I have painted my fair share. I know many of the subjects well, while others were brief encounters, although leaving lasting impressions, timeless, eternal. Some are famous, while others are part animal. One of my favorites is the Obama series, called ‘Are you a Believer?’, which is an ongoing paintametary, following the Obama years. Perhaps this makes me a bit painter paparazzi, or a political painter, I like to think of it as individual time capsules, portraying people in their glory, or otherwise, as themselves, or at least the impression they portrayed. This is always a challenge to convey the subject not just as on object but as a story, such that within the frame and within the composition there are visual clues, using visual devices such as symbols and colours to bring them to life. The medium is acrylic, mostly, on canvas, wood and even metal (magic bus Chief Hau portrait). My style comes from spending many hours painting. My influences are many including Japanese art, Ancient art (Egyptian,Greek,Tibetan). I also am influenced by the anonymous artist that left their impressions on cave walls, some going back over 30 000 years ago.
Fotomahaloness – a few examples of portraits I painted from 2007 to present. I am in the process of putting together a workshop, in the beginning of March 2013, if you are in the Calgary area and are interested please leave a comment or message me. Mahaloness

Yellow Mahaloness

How about a quick run down on the colour/color Yellow.

Yellow.
Planet: Mercury
Mercury stimulates the the nervous system conferring a quick intellect
The positive influence of Mercury suggests that nothing can stay stagnant, which relates to impermanence
-yellow predominates in all herbs, and especially purgatives, nerve stimulants, such as senna, sulphur, castor oil, phosphorus, etc…remember your last trip to a natural hot spring
Too much yellow can over stimulate and can be quite disastrous, caution too much yellow!
Yellow is 3rd in the scale of the colors
Musical Note: E
Jewel: yellow topaz
Represents: luminosity
A yellow aura, pale/bright/pure, represents high wisdom and intellectuality, when dark yellow appears this represents treachery, deceit and cowardice
Mahalonessfoto featuring predominately yellow hue, including a very squiggly road line, and too much yellow has the potential to make one overly squiggly
