At night, I can hear Earth’s voice clearly, free from the sounds of engines roaring, and considerably less airplanes soaring. I look up at the stars and wonder if there will be a day when the robots take over. I have been meaning to get this book called ‘Novocene’ by James Lovelock. Lovelock introduced the hypothesis known as Gaia Theory, co-developed with Lynn Margulis. His new book goes into length about AI and the future of our planet.  As the virus has spread across nearly all places on Earth we are in what can perhaps be described as a holding pattern. It is a time to be present, and given the new protocol, or optimisation, we now live in a new paradigm, even if unwilling. I am slowly letting go of the negative thoughts, and yes I have experienced periodic dark clouds roll through my head. Moments of doubt and frustration, and even anger. I try to be silent, let them pass. I think about my elders, and pray for them. I appreciate the lessons they have passed on to me. I am learning that I am adaptable, and the includes living in quarantine. I am independent while also dependant. I receive many things from life, and also give back in return.  I am a free spirit, boundless. I have no problems with solitude, it is essential to my existence and growth. My thoughts and my prayers are with you, all my fellow beings, friend or not, no matter, we are one and we will always be one.

speechless

This has been life lately, living in a time of perceived crisis, wondering how we fair through this storm. More posts coming, I am still at a loss for words, except take care of your elders, and stay well.

BC and Art…

I don’t have a whole lot of words to express. I could on about how I am feeling, or talk about the weather. Or, I might say that winter has been a chore, and most certainly not a bore. I embraced the winter this year, I let old things die, and revived a passion for my painting. I spent time with the elders, made them meals, spent time listening to their stories. It is strange that we write off the elders, and treat them with such little respect. Instead we blame them for this and that, the climate, the state of the environment, and so on. They did the best the could do. There is no reconciliation without first respecting the fact that the new generations will also make mistakes, and that in the future, they will be the ones who bare the weight. I myself, my little self, think as long as the children are laughing and playing, and that the earth provides us with life, that we ought to celebrate this life, and consider how lucky we are to be here. I know I am.

2019 paintings

The past year has come and gone, here are some remnants in the form of paintings made in the intensity. Perhaps life comes in sets of waves, with small runners, smooth and clean, and fluctuating outside monsters that seemingly come out of no where. Stress was a factor for me, with many life events leaving their mark, still I am here, and can say I overcame much of it, with lingering nuggets that like everything else will eventually return to the sea. I do plan on working on continuing to write as things come to me. For now this post is a visual time capsule, things that inspired me, commissions, and turning life’s lemons into lemonade. For those of you interested, I do have a website online shop that you can check out via the link. haltsart.com (click here)

Also if there is any questions, comments or interest in any of these works, please do leave a message, I am more than happy to be of service.

Loving Kindness

Perhaps it can be said that there is not enough loving kindness in the world. This planet is filled with humans, there is hardly a place where you can go that isn’t occupied by other humans. What I find interesting is just how little we know about each other, and how this unknowing produces a lot of chaos. In my humble opinion we have been misguided by the powers that be, and this has gone on for a good long while. As advanced as technology may be, as sophisticated as humans might think themselves to be, the reality is that we are humans not much different from our early ancestors. We have created lots of things with our brains, some good, some not so good. We have technology that given the right application might be useful, whilst  we also have proven to have a knack for using the things in very destructive ways ; all in the name of FREEDOM, JUSTICE, DEMOCRACY, TRUTH, and LIBERTY. Consequently we are left with a lot of problems, which has created a need to find new solutions. Over the last decade I have listened to a many opinions about climate, about Earth, and about how things are. I feel that in a lot of cases the challenge of speaking about Earth and climate is that it is a complex system that has cycles and variations. The one constant perhaps is that is constantly revolving. I studied Earth and Climate at University, I was an average student as I didn’t agree with most of the information being spoon fed into my mouth. I realised that the real mandate for university is to capitalise on youth by promising them a bright future meanwhile forcing many into debt and destroying a lot of dreams. Now this might seem harsh, this was my experience and well nearly every person I know who went to school either made insane sacrifices or they borrowed money for a promise based on not much at all. Now I do not regret going to school, and made the most out of it. I made sure to learn things that I wanted to learn. I made sure to think critically and speak my mind, even when it was uncomfortable. It often was received with blank stares and on occasion threats of being kicked out of school. I took courses in areas of interest and that would be useful for cognition and building mindfulness. I think that we have a responsibility to ourselves to learn about each other, and all living things that call Earth home. In doing so we might begin to grasp just how interconnected we all our and even the tiniest of choices can make a tiny difference instead of doing nothing like a deer in the headlights. This life is a precious gift. It is not for the government to determine how we live or want to live, nor is it their responsibility to take care of us because if they did I would not be writing this blog. I am concerned for the welfare of humanity, I am concerned about the fact we are in a period of extinctions and our reaction has been a pretty good indication of just how little we stand by each other. This being said, there is a new wave of energy that is beginning to bring us a little closer together. By joining individual voices we learn form each other and what was once a tiny voice becomes a giant voice. The time for loving kindness is here, we can choose to keep destroying the precious gift or we can make real and simple changes that will give hope to the new generations, and all life on Earth.

How’s my blogging?

I may not drive a car but I do blog, so with this in mind please remind yourself I am a visual artist, writing and blogging are new to me, relatively new that is, I am no Hemmingway, or HST, but I am dedicated, and in some ways a man possessed, which has its own inherent challenges…what I am trying to convey is that this blog is superfluous, although there are some gems in there, unfortunately for me writing doesn’t always flow like paint does. I also would like to note that I wholeheartedly do not want to explain my paintings, this has nothing to do with you, the reader, it is something I am working on, day to day. To confuse you even more, l am able to explain the work, it does come from somewhere, but if I told you, you probably wouldn’t believe me unless that is if I was doing a live talk and you and I were there, which is clearly not the case because you are there and I am here. This is okay, I will continue to post, for those onboard, thank you, for those new to the scene, welcome, and please forgive me for my ineptitude with words, I think I might be dyslexic, and that’s oaky. I am the author of Mahaloness, and I am okay with that. Being that this is a fairly linked community, and that interconnectedness is the real deal, I Mahaloness will do my best to post the most Mahaloness I can, meaning I will promote positive vibrations and inspire to be inspired and continue on this path, maintaining the good work, and giving thanks to all those who help me be here, and to extend that back accordingly and in gratitude. We live in an interesting times, so much going on, and for what it’s worth, I am happy to be here, part of it, and hopefully by doing what I consider the good work, which is sharing my art and experience, that it benefits your time as well as mine. To all the good folks doing the good work, whether it is Alex or Allyson Grey, Autumn Skye, Aude Ray, Adham Shaikh, Blue Lunar Monkey, Beatfarmer, Jake, Jim, Mike, Molly, Nicole, Anna, Francisco Goya, Willy Nelson, Oprah, Ram Das, Laura, Tara, Michelle, Romio Shrestha, the Dalia Lama, MCA, Shane, Halla Halla, Hana Kyle, Tyler HVW8, Austin at eyecollector.com, Caroline Weaver, Riley Tease, Carl White, it goes on and on and on, keep up the good work, it is essential you do, vital, and is beautiful in every which way. It is easy to get caught up in the unpleasantness that life can bring, it is human, it is also beautiful to be human, here and now and with all of you, Mahaloness.
