The artist path is one of patience, perseverence, and constant practice. Throughout the journey there will be experienes, countless experiments, endless information and encounters that adjust your perception of the world. This will inevitably end up in your work, which depending in the person comes with a certain lag time between effect and response. This of course may be slightly altered from one to person to the next, there are many factors such as environment, social economic and political climate, passion, endurance, resolve and so on. For this artist the journey and the destination are one and same, they are always changing and impermanent, this can be both a blessing and a challenge, knowing this there is nothing to hold onto, no ‘mistakes’…the trick is to remember this when things go sideways.
The Pearl Divers Dream…is a hybrid artowrk combining painting and digital art. I made beacuse I love the ocean in all its magic, mystery and saltiness. I would add I also love the folklore, the mermaids, and the possibility of an encounter with an underwater Goddess.
On my travels I seek places where I can sit in Peace, the Sacred Garden of Maliko on Maui is one of those places. This particular wooden statue is a study for 2 paintings to date, EarthBuddha (currently on display in Calgary at Mcc Yoga http://www.yogamcc.com) and Buddha of Compassion (for Luke)
White Tara No.1 for Agnus, there are some paintings when my Spirit opens right up, this was one of them. Made for Agnus who moved on from this life, it was a canvas gifted to me by her bereaved partner. The image of the White Tara came to me in a meditation and so that is what I painted. It was a learning experience which involved researching Tibetan Art and meeting friend and mentor, Romio Shrestha, who is a 17th reincarnated Tibetan artist and all around amazing human, full of love and passion. Once completed I contacted the fellow who left me the canvas and invited him over for a viewing, turns out the last picture Agnus drew was of the White Tara. You can Romio’s work at http://www.romioshrestha.com
White Tara No.3 for Whistle, made as a commission piece for a friend who had travelled exstensively through Tibet, it is a Spirited painting, each mark a gesture for peace.
Hi my name is hälts, I am a Canadian artist, geographer, film worker and mostly a human being. I did not grow up thinking I wanted to be an artist, things just kind of fell into place. Art is a special gift humans have developed since inception. Mother Earth is the greatest artist, and who keeps me humble on my path. I mostly paint, and use acrylic with an assortment of brushes and touches, and sometimes watercolour. I am also well rounded with airbrush skills, spray paint, digital art and production, filmmaking, photography and drawing. I make fine art work, small paintings, big paintings, murals, wearable art, functioning art, and art for healing. I go wherever calls. I inspire while also being inspired by this planet, and my fellow beings. Life is a gift, and that's how I treat it. If that's not enough for you, then perhaps someone else can fill your expectation. I have no one to impress, I don't do this to be cool, and I care about this planet as much as Greta Thunberg, thank you very much, and all the life it sustains. I am not pro this person or that person, politically agnostic, I am spiritual, I am happy, I am sad, I am love, I am fear, I am joy, I am sorrow, I am all that humans are. I don't care about celebrities endorsements, and reminder there are many folk out there doing their part for Mother Earth, in their own way long before the current movement, upheaval does not create forever change, it goes in cycles, it always has and it always will, just sit in front the ocean and see it for yourselves. Most of all I just am. Thank you kindly, hälts
