no matter

No matter what the economy says
No matter what the taxes are
No matter what disease we cure
No matter what the herbalist speak
No matter what the disgruntled worker says
No matter how many satellites we send
No matter how much technology we bring
No matter how loud a bullet is
No matter what the war may be
No matter what the division is
No matter what
It doesn’t matter
If we lose this.

dedicated to Lady Pacifica, Mother Earth, and for all of its inhabitants, no matter the classification.

this was once this

How many layers go into a painting?
Well thats really difficult to say, lots!

fotoMahaloness -from this to this. Follow the link to see what lies beneath the layers of the painting below, titled simply as ‘Mahaloness’, although originally it was called ‘Phantasm’. I have been working on this one for 2 years, if time is your thing. What began as a live art painting has now morphed into what you see below. Since it’s inception it has been in 3 live art performances, it has been hung in art 3 shows, it has been through a flood, just to name a few. Is it done? When is a painting done? Well thats also difficult to say, it really depends on how far you want to go with it, if it feels right, than go with it, never hesitate.

in a room

kneeling in a room
painting the greatest painting ever painted
ever so quietly in a room
thinking of my mom
and my dad
in a room
thinking of my loved ones
near and far
every mark
A gesture to my kinfolk
to my lover
my family
My sisters and my brothers
in a room
filled with spirit
of those who painted before
in a room
a sacred act unfolds
at one

-a poem about painting

Life on the streets can be hard. The city is a place that offers little in the way of contemplation as the world speeds forward toward never ending progress.
fotoMahaloness -street cred, fotos taken in Toronto circa 2007 just before the black out. Some refer to Toronto as the ‘Big Smoke’. I think it’s a tough town, filled with lots of people, and their dreams. And, there are constant reminders of those who have struggled in the process. (Originally b&w ILFORD HP5 Plus 400 shot on an old and very heavy Nikkormat 1970’s model.)

Dedicated to those who struggle in cities, may we never turn a blind eye to those who need help.
