There is magic and there is work, you cannot have one without the other.

Fotomahaloness -despite the fact art is often undervalued and lacks integrity due to being entrenched in a society that is seemingly attached to favoritism, and popular trends, if it’s not a trend or a cause it is not worth it! My reaction to this is that the work must be done, and just to support this statement, the fotomahaloness below is some of my work, which I call night art, made in pitch black in the middle of a field next to my love, Lady Pacifica. The mural was covered over by Kone 2012 a day later. So why do it? Why do anything? When do we say enough’s enough, when do we say ‘I don’t want to numb myself!’ or accept the mediocre! As long as the world turns and I am here, I will continue to provide my service, whether or not that is deemed as valuable, the one thing I do know is that the art works, it moves, it is kid approved, and there is plenty of more work to do, even when it gets painted over, or shunned, this is alright, it is the cycle of life, thats what drives the process, the reaction to the action, the response to the absurdity, and on it goes again and again. And my art on a bus, magical, magic which no one can take away from me, for it is not for anyone to own.

Mahaloness is an art blog documenting the inner spirit and artist journey of Shane Haltman, also referred to as 'hälts'. He lives, breathes and makes art in Canada. Hälts often travels to remote and exotic locations to produce community spirit murals and paintings using available materials. He is unconventional in his approach to art and chooses unique projects and sometimes they choose him. He is known for guerrilla lawn art shows, painting helmet art for a Canadian Olympic Athlete, and once painted a magic bus out of this world. Mostly he is human as anyone else, however very driven and disciplined with respect to his artistic practice. He has experience working with the bereaved and helping people who are experiencing, or who have experienced trauma in their lives. He also enjoys working with the youth and passing on his wisdom, usually in the form of art jams. Hälts is a full spectrum artist, living and breathing art, as a daily practice, in this mixed up beautiful world.
